How Do Solve Multi Step Equactions
How do solve multi step equactions
Example,2x + 3 = 53
First, you must know PEMDAS or GEMDAS
Groupings, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
Now, reverse GEMDAS to SADMEG
because, you are reversing the equation to get the value of a variable (example: x)
Given 2x + 3 = 53
We must use "S" from SADMEG, because we have a "+ 3" and we need to cancel it, so, to cancel it, we subtract it by 3. You should also subtract 53 by 3, because WHATEVER YOU DO TO THE LEFT, IS WHAT YOU DO TO THE RIGHT.
Giving us,
2x + 3 = 53
- 3 -3
2x = 50
Now we use "D" from SADMEG.
2x = 50
__ __
2 2
x = 25
To check, plug x to the equation, 2x + 3 = 53
2(25) + 3 =
50 + 3 = 53
So x, is really equal to, 25
