If its the song sung by Sheryn Regis, the song is a story about enduring all the hardships, including all what people say, about where you are in life, and if yore anywhere because they dont see you getting there. So theyd guess, theyd judge, theyd conclude before hand you dont have any plans. But deep within your soul, you know what you want, and though the past was bitter, people dont know your thoughts, your desires and your plans. They dont know what you can achieve. So you hold on to your vision, and get the strength you need from the will of your soul.

The writer titled the song follow your dreams because it  summarizes the story of the song and at the same time serves an encouragement to both the writer and the audience to dare to keep the faith and follow your dreams no matter what.

The title can be found in the first line of the chorus. Its both a story of the life of the dreamer, and an encouragement to those who dream, to never give up and hold their will up.
